City Council member Gene Masuda has set up this meeting with a “consultant from Home Depot” and Pasadena’s Director of Planning and Community Development regarding Home Depot’s potential purchase and plan for use of the 14+ acre Avon property located on the south side Foothill Blvd just west of the freeway overpass. The property extends all the way south to Walnut.

Under the new General Plan, this property is zoned for Research and Development Flex Space, a new zoning definition for the city. Low density, light industrial. But Home Depot is rumored to be planning to use about 1/3 of it for a retail location because the definition of R&D Flex Space allows for retail as an “ancillary use.”

Because the General Plan was just adopted and the Specific Plan is completely out of date and out of sync, the City Council probably has to give approval. We will find out.

Come learn what they have to say and express your opinion.
The feedback they get could have a very significant impact on what they decide to do.
